The Squeezy Orange Juicer is easy to disassemble and cleaning takes less than five minutes.

Nothing beats the zing and zest of freshly squeezed orange juice as a morning pick me up or a refreshing burst during the day. The New Zealand Juice and Beverage association describe fresh juice as one that does not contain any additives, flavours or juices that have undergone a concentration process. Fresh juices cannot have been pasteurised, stored frozen or contain frozen juice.

This makes it sound as though it is well nigh impossible to source or supply orange juice that meets this criteria, but not so says Tony Hodge of Eurotrenz Pacific Ltd, importers and distributors of the Squeezy Orange Juicer. “Our Squeezy Orange juicers will juice up to 20 oranges per minute and provide a novel ‘no peel’ solution to the preparation of fresh orange juice on site. They are quick and the clear Perspex face makes for a unique visual experience, “ says Hodge. “When situated in view of the customer, they can watch their juice being pressed.”

Widely used in Europe and the US by cafés, bars, hotels, juice bars and catering companies, the new Squeezy Orange Juicer range is proving to be a hit in New Zealand with customers and operators alike. Some, like the café at Te Papa, are using the machine to bottle their own uniquely branded freshly squeezed orange juice as well as serving by the glass. “Filling their own bottles gives them extra flexibility in busy times,” explains Hodge.

Fiona Charlesworth of Café Infusion in Hamilton has just purchased her second Squeezy Juicer. “We put the first one in two months ago and it has been so popular we have put one in our second location. They are quick and easy-to-use and with only four moving parts, cleaning is a breeze. Our customers love the fresh juice and we love the extra turnover and profit.”

The Squeezy Orange Juicers, distributed in New Zealand by Eurotrenz Pacific Ltd (www.squeezyorangejuicer.com) use a series of high impact concave and convex balls to press the juice from the oranges. The machines yield up to 500mls of juice from a kilo of oranges. Plus, because the skins never come in contact with the juice, there is no bitter taste to the juice and the cold pressing action means all of the enzymes and vitamin C survive the juicing process intact.

The small footprint (400mm x300mm deep - for LJ20M model) makes the Squeezy Juicer easy to fit into any situation.

I have been looking at orange juice supplies for the Restaurant for some time and have made the commitment to an onsite juicer. In the course of doing my research I came across a mountain of material on the benefits of adding fresh orange juice to your daily diet. It certainly seems to be a good daily source of vitamins and minerals as well as being a delicious thirst quenching summer favourite which can be drunk on its own or added to alcohol, a Bucks Fizz is simply Champagne and fresh orange juice. Screwdriver is orange juice and vodka, add some Galliano and it becomes a Harvey Wallbanger so you get the goodness of fresh orange juice with your tipple.

Adults who include eight ounces of orange juice in their diet every day increase their intake of vitamin C (120%*), thiamine (10%*), potassium (13%*) and other important nutrients such as folates and niacin. (*The figure in brackets show the percentage of daily recommended value based on a 2000 cal diet) Parents who serve 100% orange juice to their children are helping to supply them with the nutrients needed to stay healthy. Be careful though that it is fresh orange juice, orange drinks are often diluted sometimes with other juices and have added sugar, often refined which tend to cancel out all the benefits.
